In Sandy Leong's childhood memories, the Lunar New Year is the most grand annual event of the family. Explaining the power of rubies, she recalled: "Chinese people use red to celebrate festivals. It represents vitality, energy, health, wealth, good luck and blessings." When she was very young, her mother passed on some jewelry with family heritage to her.
Not only did she encourage her to wear these jewelry on major festivals, but she also often reminded her to use them in her daily outfits and always emphasized the importance of family.
With these unforgettable childhood memories, Sandy Leong successfully completed the design of the "Lunar" series. The "Lunar" series includes 3 pairs of ruby earrings (baguette style, chain style, and ear-hugging style), 1 baguette ruby bracelet, 1 baguette ruby pendant, 1 baguette ruby stacking ring and 3 ruby seal rings (set with round or baguette rubies). The protagonist of each work is a rich ruby, which is filled with the traditional festive atmosphere unique to the Lunar New Year.

Jewellery designer Sandy Leong, who has made responsible sourcing a core element of her brand’s business model, said: “It was a natural choice for us to use Gemfields’ rubies and emeralds. They have been working hard to ensure that the people in the gemstone-producing areas benefit from the mining of gemstones. I really appreciate this philosophy and enjoy working with them.”

Prior to this collaboration, Sandy Leong had collaborated with Gemfields four times. After each collaboration, Sandy Leong donated 10% of the jewelry sales revenue to the Gemfields Foundation to rebuild a school in rural Madagascar.
It is reported that as an independently operated charity organization under the Gemfields Group, the Gemfields Foundation can accept donations from caring people and directly fund various community assistance projects and natural ecology and wildlife protection programs in Africa, effectively improving the living standards of residents near gemstone mining areas and ensuring that the mining of colored gemstones can benefit the countries of origin.
