  • From the 2025 Beijing International Jewelry Exhibition, let’s look at the trends of these major industries and categories this year
From the 2025 Beijing International Jewelry Exhibition, let’s look at the trends of these major industries and categories this year               Beijing International Jewelry Fair, as a benchmark of the global jewelry industry, is an event that every jewelry investor and consumer cannot miss. This March, the exhibition focused on the entire jewelry industry chain, including diamonds, colored gemstones, jade, pearls, etc., showcasing cutting-edge technology, innovative design, and craftsmanship achievements of the jewelry industry.         The reporter saw at the scene that the jewelry on display had different levels of preciousness, including precious gems such as Burmese pigeon blood ruby, Kashmir cornflower sapphire, Colombian Muzo green emerald, Australian opal, as well as various affordable products such as crystal, pearl, amber, beeswax, turquoise, etc.         Affected by factors such as increased demand and market speculation, the prices of crystal and pearl products have risen significantly. According to our observations, we have sensed some category trends in recent years and would like to share and discuss them with our peers.               01 / Crystal products are popular           The exhibition brought together many crystal exhibitors from the professional markets of Donghai, Jiangsu and Ketang, Guangdong, presenting the full range of products in the crystal industry, including natural crystal beads, crystal rough stones, rare mineral specimens of different categories, as well as crystal artworks that cleverly combine traditional carving techniques with modern design, and crystal jewelry that incorporates fashion elements.       "The crystal market is indeed hot. Before, not many people paid attention to white crystal, sales volume was small and the price was relatively low. But now the audience for white crystal has increased and the price has doubled. The changes in the market for white crystal also reflect the changes in the popularity of the crystal market." A salesperson told reporters in the crystal exhibition area.       Among the crystal categories, amethyst is quite popular. Crystal products can be quoted by finished product single piece or by weight. During the exhibition, the transaction volume of crystal products was very large, and consumers were more receptive to crystal products. In addition, the price of such products was relatively low, so many consumers would take one with them.                   02 /  Pearls become the “star category” at jewelry exhibitions                 According to several exhibitors, the price of Tahitian pearls has increased by about 40% year-on-year this year, making it a "star category" in the pearl market.             This change is in stark contrast to the market fluctuations in 2023. At that time, actress Ni Ni wore Tahitian pearls in public, which triggered a buying frenzy. "The market was so crazy at that time that people were buying even the dull-colored and threaded beads. The prices were hyped up and then plummeted," said buyer Mr. Zhan.       This year, exhibitors generally attributed the price increase to quality upgrades. "Look at this necklace, each bead is rich in color, rich and shiny, such goods were rare last year." Mr. Zhan, who just returned from the Hong Kong Jewelry Fair, added, "Tahiti is very popular at the Hong Kong Jewelry Fair, and the top-quality goods with rich colors are hard currency this year."       Akoya pearls with certificates will be more popular this year. Jewelers said that Akoya pearls are highly homogenized and are entry-level products, so most of the buyers are "novices". In this case, a certificate can prove whether it is a "celestial maiden" or "flower pearl" grade. When prices fluctuate, buyers are more willing to pay for this peace of mind.     Compared with the volatile Tahitian and Akoya pearls, the prices of Australian white and South Sea gold pearls are relatively stable, with a slight increase this year. The cultivation cycle of these two types of pearls is long, the output is stable, and the buyer group is mainly high-net-worth customers.           In contrast, the freshwater pearl market is showing a sharp polarization. On the one hand, the price of "baby chains" (small beads under 6 mm) has dropped significantly. When the "baby chain" was popular in 2023, a large number of breeders in Zhuji followed suit. Now there is overcapacity and the price has been cut in half, which can be called the "diving champion" of this year; on the other hand, medium-sized freshwater pearls of 6 to 10 mm have become hard currency that resists falling prices. Some merchants said: "This type of beads is comparable to seawater pearls, but the price is only one-third, the breeding time is relatively long, the technical threshold is high, and there is a great demand for versatile styles. High-quality goods are in short supply."               03 / Cultivated diamonds are popular in overseas markets, and new jewelry designs are eye-catching                   In recent years, with the continuous expansion of domestic production capacity, the sales price of cultured diamonds has become more affordable, attracting more consumers to purchase.         my country's production capacity advantage in cultured diamonds has also contributed to the continued growth of exports. At the exhibition, reporters also spotted many foreign consumers. Zhang Wei, the head of a cultured diamond brand, said: "We met with four corporate customers in one afternoon and are about to sign export orders."         Zhang Wei told reporters that in the past six months, our overall overseas order sales have increased by 40%. China has great advantages in both technology and price.         The reporter also learned at the jewelry exhibition that the prices of raw materials for some jewelry are also rising. According to statistics, the purchase price of turquoise raw materials has increased by about 20% since 2025, and the purchase price of ruby and sapphire raw materials has increased by about 30%. The increase in costs, coupled with the increasing attention paid by consumers to craftsmanship in recent years, has also prompted sellers to continuously innovate in design.                 04 / The prices of gold-related products are rising                 Affected by the continued rise in gold prices, gold-related products have seen a significant price increase.         "In addition to cultured diamonds, the technology for cultured colored gemstones has also become very mature. We brought a lot of large-carat cultured Paraibas to this exhibition, inlaid with natural diamonds and 18K gold. Large-carat cultured gemstones are relatively expensive, and with the current rise in gold prices, the prices generally range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of yuan." Several cultured gemstone exhibitors told reporters.             In addition, affected by the rising gold price, some 14K gold products also actively participated in the exhibition. "When the gold price was low before, such products were sold as handicrafts. As the gold price rises, 14K gold products are not only weighed according to the gold trend, but also have a craftsmanship fee for each product." said the exhibitor.       In addition to the "jewelry fever", gold consumption also continued to rise. From on-site observations and other offline store experiences, the hot sales trend of gold around the Spring Festival has continued in recent times, and gold sales counters in many shopping malls in Beijing are full of guests.         The price of pure gold of some brands has exceeded 920 yuan per gram. In addition to gold jewelry, gold bars and gold coins with relatively low premiums are also favored by consumers who have physical gold investment needs.         It is worth noting that this is a continuous buying boom when the gold price remains high. This means that the previous rule that gold purchases enter the off-season in March and April after the Spring Festival and the price falls periodically is being broken.

  • Natural semi-precious stones: low-key luxury, artistic gifts from nature
Natural semi-precious stones: low-key luxury, artistic gifts from nature               In recent years, the popularity of natural semi-precious gemstones in jewelry design, energy healing and collection has continued to rise. With rich colors, unique textures and affordable prices, they have become the "new favorite" besides traditional precious gemstones. This article will take you to explore this magnificent world of nature from the aspects of the definition of semi-precious gemstones, common categories, market trends and purchasing tips.           What are natural semi-precious stones?       Semi-precious stones are not a scientific classification term, but a general term used by the jewelry industry to refer to natural gemstones other than the traditional "four major gemstones" (diamond, ruby, sapphire, and emerald). The "semi" in its name only represents the value ranking in historical cognition, not the quality. In fact, many semi-precious stones are equally rare and beautiful. For example, varieties such as Paraiba tourmaline and cornflower blue tanzanite can even be compared with top-grade gemstones.         Common classification of semi-precious stones:       Colored quartz family: amethyst, citrine, rose quartz, agate, tiger eye, etc.;         Silicates: tourmaline, peridot, garnet, moonstone, topaz;         Organic gemstones: pearls, corals, amber (strictly organic materials, but often included in discussions of semi-precious stones);       Other minerals: lapis lazuli, turquoise, malachite, labradorite, etc.             The unique charm of semi-precious stones         Carnival of colors       Semi-precious stones are the most imaginative "palette" in nature. For example, tourmaline can present pink, green, blue or even two-color gradients due to the different trace elements it contains; garnets range from deep red to orange-yellow, like a frozen sunset; and moonstones scatter light due to their internal structure, giving off a hazy blue halo.       Energy and cultural implications       Many semi-precious stones are endowed with mysterious cultural meanings. For example, amethyst symbolizes wisdom and spirituality, turquoise is regarded as a "lucky stone", and agate is often used to make amulets. In the field of modern energy healing, it is also believed that the vibration frequencies of different semi-precious stones can correspond to the chakras of the human body, bringing about balance and healing effects.       Designer's muse     Semi-precious stones are highly malleable, from rough stone inlay to precision faceting, and can be adapted to a variety of design styles such as retro, minimalist, and ethnic. Brands such as Tiffany and Pandora have also launched semi-precious stone series in recent years, pushing them towards high-end.           Market trend: from "substitute" to "personal choice"       In the past, semi-precious stones were often seen as "cheap substitutes" for precious stones, but now their value logic has changed:     Scarcity drives value: the prices of some varieties have soared due to the depletion of mineral deposits, such as top-grade Afghan lapis lazuli and unoptimized turquoise;     Young consumer preferences: Generation Z prefers the uniqueness and storytelling of semi-precious stones rather than blindly pursuing the traditional "value preservation" attribute;     Sustainable development: Compared with diamond mining, semi-precious stone mining areas are smaller in scale, and some brands emphasize environmental protection through "traceable mining".             Conclusion: The Future of Semi-Precious Stones       The rise of natural semi-precious stones reflects the change in consumers' aesthetic taste from "pursuing symbols" to "expressing themselves". They are not only ornaments worn on the body, but also carriers that connect nature, culture and personality. As people's understanding of niche gemstones deepens, more "dark horses" may emerge in this field, continuing the legend of semi-precious stones.                 We at QInfa Jewelry are proud to be a first-class jewelry manufacturer with advanced manufacturing facilities. We specialize in high-end custom services, offering OEM/ODM customization services to create exquisite gemstones and jewelry to your exact specifications.   We guarantee that all gemstones are 100% natural, providing you with unparalleled quality and authenticity.   Our skilled artisans meticulously craft each piece, ensuring superior quality and attention to detail.

  • Bulgari's special exhibition for the Year of the Snake arrives in Shanghai, kicking off a journey of innovation in art jewellery with the classic snake totem
Bulgari's special exhibition for the Year of the Snake arrives in Shanghai, kicking off a journey of innovation in art jewellery with the classic snake totem                 The snake, a mysterious creature of nature, winds through the origin myths and legends of different civilizations, like a spiritual bond that runs through time and space, connecting human beings' deep thoughts on life and eternity. From Fuxi and Nuwa in the East to Nāga in India, from the world snake in Northern Europe to the spirit snake that tempted Eden in the Bible, its figure wanders between heaven and earth, reflecting the reincarnation and renewal of life, and reflecting human beings' eternal thinking on spirituality, wisdom and natural forces.     It is a profound metaphor about the essence of life in philosophical thinking. The image of the snake carries extremely complex and multifaceted symbolism. It transcends culture and region, presenting a symbolic meaning that is coincidental and interconnected in different civilizations, becoming a bridge connecting common human experience and cultural diversity.       Bulgari "Serpenti Infinito: Endless Life" Special Exhibition for the Year of the Snake       As the Chinese Lunar Year of the Snake is approaching, the first BVLGARI special exhibition for the Year of the Snake, "SERPENTI INFINITO: Endless Life", is held at Zhang Garden in Shanghai. Focusing on the image of the snake and its endless transformation in art, history and contemporary creative expression, it unfolds a cross-temporal dialogue spanning the East and the West, the past and the present, art and jewelry, and inheritance and innovation.     The exhibition brings together many masterpieces of the Bulgari Serpenti series and 28 works by 19 Chinese and foreign artists. Through the three chapters of "Time is green, the snake roams the long scroll of history", "Mysterious universe, the snake occupies the vast universe", and "Infinite reverie, the snake interprets eternity", it deeply explores the diverse charm of the image of the snake in different creative fields, of which 11 works of art are specially created for this exhibition.       Refik Anadol: The Snake       At the opening of the special exhibition for the Year of the Snake, the theme forum "New Ideas of the Snake - Diverse Interpretations in Contemporary Art and Jewelry" was also held in the Zhang Garden Pavilion. The forum was hosted by Lai Fei, editor-in-chief of the bilingual contemporary art magazine LEAP and executive editor of the Chinese version of ArtReview.   Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari, Wu Yue, president of LVMH Group Greater China, American artist Daniel Rozin, Belgian artist Cate M Mercier, UAE artist and product designer Azza Al Qubaisi and Chinese digital artist Fei Jun deeply analyzed the unique meaning and contemporary interpretation of the image of the snake in different cultures, art fields and jewelry aesthetics.       "Snake New Ideas: Diverse Interpretations in Contemporary Art and Jewelry" Art Forum               01/ Connecting the East and the West, spanning the past and the present Bvlgari’s cross-temporal dialogue with Chinese culture               As a universal symbol that inspires human imagination, the snake has been regarded as a sacred totem in Chinese culture since ancient times. In the "Classic of Mountains and Seas", the snake is the embodiment of divinity, permeating between mountains and rivers. In the twelve zodiac signs, the snake corresponds to the "Si" which symbolizes and metaphors the transition of time: Si, when the yang is exhausted and the yin is hidden, all things are visible and the text is revealed, implying that the vigorous vitality is ready to go with a sharp forward posture.   Across the ocean, the rich cultural connotations and endless transformation spirit contained in the snake are constantly resonated, transmitted and reshaped in the Serpenti series of works created by BVLGARI in 1948. In this exhibition, the image of the snake also becomes a cultural bridge connecting the Bulgari Serpenti series of jewelry, Chinese traditions and the new generation of global art creation, interpreting Bulgari's pioneering role in global cultural integration.       Bulgari "Serpenti Infinito: Endless Life" Special Exhibition for the Year of the Snake       The first chapter of the exhibition, "The Green Time, the Snake Roaming the Long Scroll of History," focuses on the profound symbolic meaning of the snake in traditional Chinese culture, showing its charming resonance in myths and legends, artistic creations, and daily life.   The Warring States jade ring engraved with agile snake patterns, the Western Zhou bronze vessel "He Zun" decorated with a winding snake body, and the Ming Dynasty court python-patterned gauze robe with a variety of embroidery and weaving techniques, together demonstrate the undoubted profound meaning of the snake in traditional Chinese culture.       Green-ground embroidered shoulder-length cloud-python pattern gauze round-collar robe (Ming Dynasty)       From ancient times to the present, snakes have always been an important inspiration for artistic creation, and have been given new vitality in different eras and in the hearts of craftsmen. The artworks presented in this chapter pay tribute to traditional Chinese handicrafts, including paper-cut art installations, silk painting popular in the Tang and Song dynasties, and gold wire cold enamel installations that inherit the cloisonné craftsmanship of the Ming Dynasty.       Luo Ming "Teng Wan Jin Ling Jing"       Among them, artist Luo Ming combines ancient paper-cutting techniques with modern technology and materials. In the paper-cutting installation “Serpent Teng in the Golden Realm”, she makes auspicious paper-cutting patterns such as wheat ears and fairy grass pass through the snake's body and clouds, symbolizing the mutual growth and integration of the snake and nature; Qiu Anxiong's “The Mysterious Peach Spring – A Rendezvous with Snake” reinterprets the “Snake Man” chapter in Pu Songling’s “Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio”.       In this painting, which is set against a Chinese landscape background, a snake keeper and a green snake meet unexpectedly, and the story that happens between them shows the profound and harmonious coexistence between man and nature. In Spring Encounter, young sculptor Mo Lijuan draws on traditional ancient Chinese snake-shaped decorative elements, using auspicious patterns to interpret the transformation of the snake from its hibernating coiled form to its activities after waking up, giving the snake endless imagination.       Qiu Anxiong's "Secret Land of Peach Blossom Land - Snake Encounter"       Since Bulgari transformed the snake's winding body into a winding jewelry watch in 1948, this iconic totem has become an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the Italian jewelry house Bulgari with its rich connotations and multicultural essence. In this exhibition, 11 exquisite works from the Bulgari antique collection series tell the evolution of the image of the snake.   From the stylized Serpenti Tubogas jewelry watch in the 1960s to the modern style Serpenti series gold belt inspired by the belt in the 1970s, it vividly shows the timeless style of precious and gorgeous works in the 1970s.   These works lead visitors through time and space, immersively exploring the transformation and rebirth of Bulgari's snake image over the past seventy years, and forming a cross-time and space dialogue with the snake totem that runs through China's thousand-year cultural history.       BVLGARI ANTIQUE COLLECTION             02/ Wisdom, protection and power The multiple symbols of the snake as an inexhaustible source of inspiration             The second chapter of the exhibition, "Mysterious Universe, Snakes Encircle the Vast Universe", presents the contemporary creations of six artists, focusing on the three symbolic meanings of snakes: wisdom, protection, and power. From materials such as ceramics, glass, and stone to mixed media such as sculpture, sound art, painting, and video, the image of the snake uses different materials and artistic techniques as carriers to show a variety of styles that condense creativity.     Xu Bing: English Square Character Calligraphy: Serpenti       Renowned Chinese contemporary artist Xu Bing explored the connection between the serpent and wisdom in his work Square Word Calligraphy: Serpenti, while artist and jewelry designer Azza Al Qubaisi drew inspiration from the changing nature of the natural world to create a sculptural installation in mild steel and stainless steel, Between the Lines, which echoes the serpent’s metamorphic nature.       Azza Al Qubaisi: Walking on the Line       Experimental musician Li Daiguo and visual artist Li Shurui co-created We · Entwinement, which combines the charm of classical instruments with the creativity of modern sound art, inviting the audience to think about the protective power of the snake. In the video work Ring of Life by visual artist and film director Luka Yuanyuan Yang, the flow of all things is presented in the form of ouroboros, a mysterious and eternal ring. This work reminds us that time is not only a linear process, but also a present that is constantly protected and renewed.       Li Daiguo and Li Shurui, "We Entangled"       Kathryn Massey’s bronze sculptures, The Small and Big Python Head and The Mandarin, are made of clay and finely carved in bronze, exploring the rich symbolism and powerful evolutionary abilities of the snake. Contemporary Chinese ceramic artist Wu Haoyu’s work New Stoneware – Serpenti explores the concept of harmonious coexistence between man and nature in traditional Chinese culture.       Kathryn Massey, Monty Python and The Mysterious Serpent             03/ Infinite imagination, eternal and everlasting A spirit snake traveling between the real and virtual worlds               The endless charm of the snake gives Bulgari Serpenti jewelry extraordinary creative inspiration, from visual aesthetics to craftsmanship, constantly changing between precision and complexity, simplicity and variety. In the chapter "Infinite Reverie, the Snake Interprets Eternity", the Serpenti high-end jewelry series highlights Bulgari's interpretation of the theme of "infinity".     Serpenti Tubogas high jewellery watch       The classic TUBOGAS series inlaid with colored gemstones combines the endless forms of the serpent and the Möbius strip, integrating artistic conception and craftsmanship into the design language of high-end jewelry; in the Serpenti Infinito high-end jewelry necklace, bracelet and brooch, the smooth lines of five serpents converge into a symbol of infinity, as if echoing the original power of the universe and endless renewal and rebirth; the Serpenti Rubellite Crown high-end jewelry necklace interprets the transformation of the serpent totem with a brand-new attitude; in the Serpenti Emerald Nimbus high-end jewelry necklace, the geometric-style serpent body is inlaid with dazzling diamonds of various cuts, which complement the emerald in the center and present a strong visual tension.       Bulgari Serpenti high jewellery collection       Focusing on the concept of "infinity", this chapter invites domestic and foreign artists to explore jewelry design and contemporary art, using the snake as a symbol of the intersection of spirit and aesthetics to open up a new vision of avant-garde art. Nine contemporary artists use a variety of media, technologies and materials such as video, spatial installation, painting, artificial intelligence, etc. to cleverly integrate traditional imagery with future innovations.       Refik Anadol: The Snake       Renowned new media artist Refik Anadol created a new digital art installation Infinito: AI Data Sculpture, inspired by the rich morphological changes of snakes in nature. The design of this work is inspired by the transformation journey and eternal beauty of the snake, marking a new chapter in the collaboration between Bulgari and Refik Anadol since 2021.       Hong Seung-Hye’s wall installation Snake, Too Long interprets the snake imagery in poetry through a humorous art installation; Utopic Arabia’s computer-generated Serpenti Odyssey explores the mysterious origins of this ancient totem through an imaginative visual language.       Daniel Rozin: The Serpent's Scales       Inspired by the golden scales of the Serpenti series, artist Daniel Rozin created the interactive wall installation Snake Scales Mirror; Chinese avant-garde artist Fei Jun invited mathematicians, psychologists and scientists to jointly create the Geometry of Emotions 5.0 series of works, cleverly integrating cutting-edge artificial intelligence and emotional computing technologies into artistic creation, exploring the intersection and fusion of art and science in psychological healing; cutting-edge digital artist Zhou Chao used algorithmic generation technology to create the work Infinite Flow, vividly demonstrating the infinite possibilities of the integration of technology and art.       Fei Jun: Emotional Geometry 5.0       In the work "Spring", artist Xie Wendi cleverly combines glass blowing and metal rotation to present a circling form, attempting to reveal the inherent dialectical contradictions of the spirit snake; Xue Feng fully interprets the infinite creativity of the spirit snake in the painting "Infinite Door" with unrestrained brushstrokes and bold construction of the canvas space; Qi Le is good at using a variety of art forms to capture and reproduce subtle, profound and complex moments; in Qi Le's sculptural installation "Lucid Dream", nature and dreams are intertwined, showing the artist's thinking on the ever-changing close bond between the spirit snake, human creativity and the power of the earth.       Xie Wendi: Spring       In addition, Bulgari also brought the Serpenti Infinito immersive virtual reality experience to this special exhibition, allowing the audience to personally appreciate the infinite charm of the snake totem's continuous transformation and rebirth in the digital world. The snake totem has achieved endless evolution and changes through Bulgari's superb craftsmanship and uninhibited creativity, and in this experience project, these myriad changes have been given a new way of expression, closely connecting the real and virtual worlds.             Final Words     After more than 70 years, the Serpenti series has always resonated with the times, ingeniously combining excellent craftsmanship with creativity, and blooming with dazzling artistic charm in the endless journey of transformation. As the Year of the Snake is approaching, Bulgari brings the masterpieces of the Serpenti series to once again arouse people's respect and imagination for the spirit snake.

  • Small and medium-sized businesses are rushing into the market. How big is the potential of the crystal jewelry market?
Small and medium-sized businesses are rushing into the market. How big is the potential of the crystal jewelry market?                 Shiny objects always make people lose their rationality. Pink quartz attracts romance, yellow quartz brings wealth, and green phantom boosts career. Crystal is like a wishing well that can accept all kinds of wishes of young people. It seems that as long as you wear it right, your career luck, love luck, and health luck can all be controlled.       In the current consumer market, a new trend is quietly surging. From Xiaohongshu to Douyin, and then to the live broadcast rooms of celebrities, crystal is becoming popular at a visible speed and has become a frequent item in young people's shopping carts. At the beginning of 2025, this phenomenon has become a hot topic of public concern, bringing a completely different impact, especially the changes in the crystal market are particularly significant.       The crystal market has shown a significant growth trend in recent years. According to Statista data, the global crystal jewelry market is expected to grow from US$1.29 billion in 2022 to US$22.83 billion in 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 14.5%. This growth is mainly due to consumers' emphasis on the aesthetic value and symbolic significance of crystal, as well as the wide application of crystal in fashion and decoration.       In addition, the booming crystal market has brought new business opportunities to emerging industries such as live broadcast training and crystal healer certification, attracting a large number of young people to participate. This has not only injected new vitality into the crystal market, but also provided more employment and development opportunities for related practitioners.             01 /  Crystal "metaphysics" explosion               Since ancient times, crystal has been endowed with mysterious energy and is regarded as a "feng shui stone" for luck, warding off evil spirits, seeking wealth, and praying for blessings. In both Eastern and Western cultures, the legend that crystal has energy has a long history. The ancient Egyptians believed that crystal could resist foreign enemies, and in China, crystal zodiac carvings were unearthed during the Spring and Autumn Period.       Among contemporary young people, crystal is not only seen as a decoration, but also as a life attitude and spiritual sustenance. The cost of crystal is relatively low, and the price is relatively affordable. Crystal has many attributes that conform to the current consumption trend - low-cost self-pleasing. In a sense, the popularity of crystal is also a "lipstick effect".             As crystal culture gradually becomes popular, more and more young consumers begin to pay attention to its aesthetic value and symbolic meaning. In particular, female consumers, as the main consumer group of crystal jewelry, have higher requirements for the cultural connotation and design sense of the product. Xiaoyou, a post-00s office worker, shared her experience of buying crystals, "In addition to blessing good luck, I am also impressed by the beauty of crystals. As a fashion accessory, it adds highlights to my outfit." Crystals are rich in colors, and naturally formed transparent and dazzling crystals can be mixed and matched with crystals of different colors and materials and accessories to make unique customized bracelets.       In addition, through social media and online platforms, crystals are favored by users at home and abroad. On TikTok overseas, videos with the tag #crystals# have accumulated 6.2 billion views, while videos with the tag #crystal healing# have nearly 4 billion views; in China, users on social platforms also have a high degree of discussion about crystal products, and on the social media Xiaohongshu, the popularity of crystal-related topics is surprisingly high. The number of views of the topic #水晶# alone reached 2.23 billion, and there are more than 5,000 notes related to the content related to "Crystal's Complete Benefits".       Various celebrity anchors and experts have been promoting crystal products in their live broadcast rooms. For example, the matrix live broadcast room of Make Friends has added an account called "Make Friends Light Luxury Real Affordable Selection", which currently mainly promotes crystal jade products. Data shows that in the past 30 days, "Make Friends Light Luxury Real Affordable Selection" has conducted 35 live broadcasts with products, of which 32 are crystal-specific live broadcasts. Most of the crystals on the shelves are popular products such as Super Seven and Green Phantom, which are around 100 yuan. The estimated sales volume is as high as 5 million to 7.5 million. In addition, celebrities such as Xu Yiyang, Yi Nengjing, and Yu Zheng have also joined the ranks of crystal promotion, further boosting the market's popularity.               02  / Small and medium-sized businesses rush into the market                 The crystal market has been further boosted, and a number of small and medium-sized businesses have also joined in. In addition to batch production, the business of customizing crystal bracelets has also emerged among businesses.       On social media, some small and medium-sized businesses that are good at attracting traffic have already generated explosive sales in the customized crystal category after only three or four months of entering the market. Li Jin also caught up with this trend. She said that since August, she has found that there are more and more crystal-related marketing, and the main feature is that it is tied to the zodiac, eight characters, chakras and other metaphysics. As a practitioner of astrolabe tarot, she decisively entered the customized crystal market.       Like most beginners, after a series of screenings, she chose an offline crystal healing training institution. She told us that the courses are mainly offline, including clearing negative energy, identifying crystals of different textures, singing bowl healing, etc. The training class consists of 10-15 people, and the offline class is one hour per week. The total cost is about 10,000 yuan. Everyone has a different entry period. It took Li Jin only about a week to master the quality and appearance of crystals.       Due to the accumulation of previous star plate customers, she closed her first order on the third day of her crystal business. "There are all kinds of people in this business. Some people can't make a single order in three months, while others have become very popular in three months." Unlike some crystal bracelets that are sold in large quantities in live broadcast rooms, customized bracelets often need to be customized and matched according to the specific situation of the customer, and the price generally ranges from 200 yuan to several thousand yuan. Take Li Jin as an example. Her customization process is to match the energy for the customer through the star plate, and then "bless" after confirming the communication plan. She mentioned: "The cost of a customized blessing is more than 2,000 yuan."       Donghai County, Jiangsu Province, is the largest crystal market in China and the raw material distribution center of natural crystal in the world. The crystals here are sold all over the world and also to major crystal live broadcast rooms in China. Li Jin's crystal raw materials also come from here. In the chain of crystal business, the first step is to pull stones from the mine for original processing. This part of raw materials is often calculated by tons; the next step is that wholesalers give the supply to second-hand and third-hand dealers, and then supply them to major live broadcast rooms and small and medium-sized retailers.       The profits of crystal customization and even the entire industry may depend more on quality and pricing. For example, the recent crystal live broadcast of actress Xu Yiyang has caused controversy over the high price. Li Jin said that as a non-standard product, the price of crystal bracelets varies greatly. "In some online celebrity customization shops, ordinary golden quartz can be sold for more than 8,000 yuan, but this quality can be sold for about 2,000 yuan here."             03  /  How big is the potential of the crystal market?               In recent years, there has been a wave of pursuit of physical and mental health around the world, and people are increasingly interested in natural therapies and spiritual pursuits, which has brought unprecedented development opportunities to the crystal jewelry market. According to Grand View Research data, the crystal jewelry market in North America is expected to reach US$8.1 billion by 2025, and in Europe it will reach US$6.5 billion. The demand for crystal jewelry in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in China and India, is growing rapidly, and is expected to become the main driving force for the growth of the global crystal jewelry market in the next few years.       Faced with this huge business opportunity, the tentacles of modern business are rapidly extending. Domestic and foreign brands are pouring into the market to compete for a limited market share. For example, in October 2024, the entry of TikTok and JD Logistics into the crystal market brought new development opportunities to Donghai County, which is rich in crystal, and opened the era of full-hosting of crystal cross-border e-commerce. Official data show that the crystal transaction volume in Donghai County has climbed to 41.2 billion yuan last year, of which the overseas market accounted for as much as 65%. The United States and Southeast Asia, with sales accounting for 40% and 35% respectively, have become the main export bases for Donghai crystal.             From the perspective of market development prospects, the crystal market has certain positive trends.       On the one hand, the change in consumers' aesthetic concepts has led to personalized needs becoming the mainstream, which will bring more development opportunities to the crystal market. In order to meet the individual and diversified needs of consumers, merchants will continue to explore and innovate in product design, materials, and craftsmanship; on the other hand, technological progress is conducive to the development and production of crystal products, which can improve product quality, increase output and reduce costs, thereby expanding market demand.       In this process, there are also some undesirable phenomena. The phenomenon of using metaphysical concepts to sell ordinary crystals at high prices has existed for a long time, and this phenomenon is getting worse. Li Mingzhu, an expert in appraisal from the Crystal Industry Association, said, "From the perspective of the entire crystal industry, the profit margins of merchants vary greatly, ranging from 20% to 2000%."       At the same time, in terms of industry standards, crystal products currently lack classification and grading standards, and there are no special service standards. The lack of a unified standard system is destined to make it difficult to achieve breakthrough development. "Facing the challenges and risks of the crystal market, improving product quality and consumer trust is the key to future development. Crystal merchants should pay attention to product quality control to ensure the authenticity and value of the crystals they sell." Li Mingzhu said.       Some people say that the popularity of crystal is a "victory of metaphysics", while others say it is due to "emotional value". On the surface, it seems to be the popularity of metaphysical culture, but in fact it is the pursuit of emotional value by young people. Smart businesses know how to make good products and how to provide users with full emotional value.

  • Global colored gemstone giant suspends emerald mining, cost reduction and efficiency improvement are still the keywords for 2025
Global colored gemstone giant suspends emerald mining, cost reduction and efficiency improvement are still the keywords for 2025                   Gemfields Group Limited (Gemfields), a leading global colored gemstone mining and marketing company, has announced that it has suspended mining operations at its Kagem emerald mine in Zambia. The company said this is a strategic move to continue to focus on key growth projects while addressing multiple challenges, including market pressures, geopolitical instability and operational obstacles.       A number of factors have contributed to Gemfields’ recent lower-than-expected emerald and ruby auction revenues:       In the second half of 2024, the industry's oversupply of Zambian emeralds and peers' price cuts had a huge impact on the emerald market, disrupting the market situation and leading to a sluggish outlook for Zambian emeralds in early 2025. At the same time, the slowdown in China's luxury consumption, continued international geopolitical turmoil and the overall weakness of the global luxury market have also made the problem more serious.       Lower production of high-end rubies from the Montepuez ruby mine in Mozambique also weighed on Gemfields’ revenues. Further complicating matters, social unrest following Mozambique’s disputed elections led to supply chain disruptions, heightening the company’s operating risks in the region, although mining operations at the Montepuez ruby mine were not directly impacted.             Despite these challenges, Gemfields remains committed to its long-term growth plans, particularly focusing on completing its second ruby processing plant at the Montepuez ruby mine. Scheduled for completion in mid-2025, the plant aims to significantly increase production of high-end rubies, thereby strengthening Gemfields' position in the global colored gemstone industry. The project remains on schedule and will be completed within budget, demonstrating the company's strategic resilience and foresight.       This commitment to growth aligns with Gemfields’ Mine & Market vision, which combines responsible mining with innovative marketing strategies. As operator and 75% shareholder of the Kagem emerald mine and the Montepuez ruby mine, Gemfields has established itself as a cornerstone in the global coloured gemstone market.             In light of the current challenges, Gemfields has taken a number of measures to cut costs and adjust operations to ensure financial stability:       ✦ Kagem Emerald Mine Suspended: Mining operations will be suspended for six months while the mine focuses on processing existing ore stockpiles using an upgraded plant.       ✦ Capital Expenditure Freeze: Non-essential spending on ruby development assets in Mozambique, including Megaruma Mining Limitada and Campos De Joia Limitada, will be suspended, while Eastern Ruby Mining will delay construction of its planned processing plant.       ✦ Gold project suspended: Gemfields' gold project Nairoto Resources Limitada has ceased operations and the company is looking for potential buyers.       ✦ Reviewing Fabergé: Gemfields will conduct a strategic review of its luxury jewellery brands as part of a wider resource integration exercise.       ✦ Optimizing business operations: Targeted measures are being implemented across the Group to streamline business activities and improve efficiency.             Looking ahead, Gemfields said these challenges may be temporary. By focusing on its core business and maintaining financial discipline, the company is confident that it can move forward steadily in the current market environment while laying a stronger foundation for the future. CEO Sean Gilbertson said, "We are taking proactive measures to address the current pressures on the business while ensuring we focus on long-term growth plans. The completion of the second ruby processing plant will be a key milestone and bring significant value to the group."       Through its strategic vision and innovative auction platform, Gemfields is a key force in shaping the global colored gemstone industry by ensuring a steady supply of colored gemstones to downstream markets. Its leadership in responsible mining and its ownership of the Fabergé brand will continue to underpin the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and excellence in the luxury market.       Fabergé has been commissioned to create Imperial Easter Eggs since the reign of Tsar Alexander III in 1885. These eggs are renowned around the world and are considered one of the greatest jewellery works of art.       In 1917, the Russian October Revolution brought the fall of the last generation of the Romanov dynasty, and Fabergé’s production of imperial eggs came to an end. After the October Revolution, the Fabergé brand experienced numerous trademark disputes. After its reorganization in 2009, it specialized in high-end jewelry. It was acquired by Gemfields in November 2012 and resumed traditional egg production in February 2015. (Source: GJEPC, Luxe.Co)

  • Beyond the decorative nature of jewelry, explore the inner spiritual world of women
Beyond the decorative nature of jewelry, explore the inner spiritual world of women               The author and Shuman met in Milan because of our mutual model friend Jun. Shuman, with her neat short hair, has a cool temperament and is not verbose. She is very frugal with words. Her independent, sharp and sincere thoughts can be felt in her conversation. When we talked about everything at the first meeting, we learned that she had been working in the fashion industry for 6 years and had worked as a design assistant at YSL (Saint Laurent). Later, she worked as a VIP online dressing plan consultant and a buyer of vintage jewelry at 24sèvres, a French luxury e-commerce company. During her time as a buyer, Shuman often went to antique exhibitions and observed many 20th century artifacts and jewelry crafts. In the process of selecting products, Shuman not only learned a lot of appreciation knowledge from antique dealers, especially in terms of materials and craftsmanship.         Shuman said that she has loved jewelry for a long time, but it has never been discovered. As early as the stage of studying fashion design, she created functional decorations for clothing by herself, despite the denial of her instructor's craftsmanship. In the end, a miniature sculpture button in the shape of "planet orbit winding" on the clothing became an indispensable finishing touch for the graduation series. Shuman called this button her jewelry enlightenment.     In her opinion, clothing needs to be carried by people, while jewelry does not. It is three-dimensional. Compared with clothing, jewelry is a more free and artistic medium of expression. When a woman takes off the outer covering of her clothes, she does not have to take off any rings, earrings or necklaces.     After leaving the fashion industry, Shuman went to Buccellati's workshop in Italy as an apprentice and obtained a goldsmith certificate, and founded his own jewelry brand "Silence Record". "Silence Record" can be translated as "silent record". On the one hand, it borrows the concept of "everything is a wave" of physicist De Broglie, and uses the "vibration frequency" of the material wave between natural gemstones and the wearer to produce a "metaphysical" adaptation; on the other hand, it also uses concepts such as "records" and "singles" to echo the frequency of the brand's new product launches. "Silence Record" will not be updated in a regular seasonal manner, but will be more free to "release music" like the creative cycle of independent musicians. The release of an "album" is a jewelry series, and a "single" is a unique product. The cover design of the "Silence Record" box is also presented in the image of a record.         With her keen sense of fashion, she was favored by the industry soon after her transformation. The collaborative series "Don't Force" launched by "Silence Record" 2022 not only appeared at the Milan Fashion Week, but also began to cooperate with Galleria Rossini, one of the four famous jewelry galleries in Milan, and was included in reports by many well-known fashion media in Europe, such as "ELLE", "BAZAAR" and "MARIE CLAIRE", and her starting point is quite high.     Tina Chow and Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe, two 20th century female jewelry designers who have had a profound influence on Shuman. At the same time, there are also many women among the customers of "Silence Record". Therefore, the jewelry of "Silence Record" also pays attention to the situation of contemporary women, and hopes to help them inspire a sense of self-exploration and gain the power of identity.     Shuman hopes that women can gain inner spiritual healing power when wearing her jewelry. She said: "When I create, I always have such a picture in my mind that no matter what kind of women are, as long as they want, they can change their way of life and transform at any time." Just as she has always believed that if contemporary women want to become more independent and more confident, external beauty is only a means, and the inner spiritual world is the goal to explore.     From fashion design to jewelry design, from "miniature sculpture" and "astronomy" to the awakening of female self-consciousness and individual inner exploration, "Silecne Record" is Shuman's pursuit and expression from the world of external beauty to the inner spiritual world under self-drive. High-level expression is not limited to complexity and luxury, simplicity and plainness is also another high-level spiritual inner guarding. Not every woman is suitable for wearing pearls, but every woman actually has a gem that suits her inner world. As David Bowie said, jewelry is the product that best reflects "who you are" and enhances personal characteristics.             The following is from Emerald Magazine   Interview with Shuman Yao               Q: You have a rich educational experience, from the United States to France and then to Italy. Can you share your journey? What led you to become a jewelry designer?       A: I have loved sculpture since I was a child, but unfortunately I didn't get into fine arts. By chance, I went to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco to study fashion design. My graduation design at that time allowed me to win a scholarship to go to Paris for an exchange program. After graduation, I have been working in fashion-related jobs in Paris. During my six years in the fashion industry, I worked as a designer assistant at YSL (Saint Laurent), a pattern maker, and a VIP online wear designer for the French luxury e-commerce company 24sèvres.     Flowing Clouds     I have personally touched almost every link in the clothing industry chain. Today's fashion industry needs to produce new products non-stop on a quarterly basis, which inevitably leads to product oversupply and waste of raw materials. The clothing manufacturing industry is a large-scale industrialized production, which will cause huge pollution. These have continuously reduced my enthusiasm for the industry. The rapidly changing fashion industry cannot bring me inner happiness. I hope to explore a medium that can carry more spiritual energy. After reflection and precipitation, at the end of 2021, I decided to switch to jewelry design.     Jewelry is like a "miniature sculpture". Compared with clothing, its artistic expression is freer. When it is worn, it is an accessory, and when it is displayed independently, it is a work of art. Touching natural minerals can make me feel inner peace. Jewelry as a medium seems to promote my exploration of the inner spiritual world and bring together my interests and hobbies more energetically, so "Silence Record" was born.             Q: Astronomical knowledge and images of cosmic bodies often appear in your designs. Can you share your sources of inspiration and creative process?       A: Yes, “the shape of the vessel is in the universe, and it can contain everything”. The design inspiration of “Silence Record” often comes from astronomy, mysticism, dreams and other fields. It wants to convey that everything in the universe is changing, and records the changing and flowing state of stars through jewelry. We cannot catch the stop of time, but can only record their instantaneous appearance, look at impermanence and change normally, and accept the unknown, change and extinction in life more calmly.     Collapse     I get inspiration from astronomical documentaries. The activities of stars are actually very similar to human life. They have "emotions" and life cycles. I once created a ring called White Dwarf Collapse, which was inspired by the collapse of stars. First, I made a ring in the shape of a collapsed shape, and then designed the cut of the gemstone according to the shape of the ring's hole. In order to simulate the water waves formed by the liquefaction of a celestial body at the moment of collapse, I chose a white crystal from Madagascar. This special-shaped cut is difficult for craftsmen, and we modified it at least five times. In the end, the finished product is viewed from 360 degrees, and every face is flowing. The "dying star" seems to be rotating slowly, which also symbolizes rebirth.     Don't Force necklace         Q: There are many women among your customer base. As a female jewelry designer, do you often observe the social attributes and needs of contemporary women and design products for them? Does the "Silence Record" brand have a female customer portrait?       A: In 2021, the first series I made was called Savior, which is an extra-long pearl crystal necklace around the neck. It can be worn in nine ways and can be styled in any way.       SAVIOR     The Savior series is about breaking free from bondage - the status of contemporary women is gradually improving, from traditional women to independent new women, they have more choices and voice. The switching of various identities and social relationships has also put women under more pressure. The metaphor of the Savior series is to break free from the bondage of the times on women, and also to break free from our own spiritual shackles. I have thought about the issue of female customer portraits, but ultimately I do not intend to define a specific portrait. I hope that any customer can gain strength when wearing "SilenceRecord" jewelry, increase their inner exploration and identity, and they can switch the life scene and lifestyle they pursue at any time by changing accessories.           Q: Contemporary women are more independent and confident. How do you view the relationship between "pursuing external beauty" and "inner exploration"? Do you think the two are contradictory or consistent?       A: I think it is very important to explore the inner spiritual world of oneself, and this is what I pursue. Like when I founded "Silence Record", in fact, no one would know "who I am" or "what I like" at the beginning. The experience of "trial and error" is to constantly "self-explore" and do subtraction to find the answer, and build up the core of true self-confidence and independent thinking. The pursuit of external beauty, I think, is a form of expression. But without internal thinking, it will be like an empty shell, that is, "the vessel is greater than the object". For example, Audrey Hepburn once created the classic "Breakfast at Tiffany's" look, a little black dress with pearls. If women all copy Hepburn's classic look, they may not be able to achieve the same amazing effect. Not everyone is suitable for wearing pearls. Only by exploring the inner self and finding a style that suits you can you achieve a balance between the inside and the outside.                                                                         Q: Your works seem to convey a message other than jewelry. What is that? Jewelry seems to be a "non-essential item". Why do you think people wear jewelry?       A: In ancient times, the original symbolic meaning of jewelry was not only a decoration, but also a magical instrument to communicate with heaven and earth and used for sacrifice. Throughout history, jewelry seems to have always played the role of a medium connecting the spiritual world and the material world. With the development of civilization, jewelry made of precious materials also symbolizes reputation and status. It was not until after World War II that synthetic glass, resin materials, etc. appeared. When jewelry materials became popular, the decorativeness gradually overshadowed the spiritual symbolic meaning. A piece of clothing needs to be carried by people, but jewelry is different. It is three-dimensional and when displayed, it is an independent work of art. I think jewelry can bring people long-term happiness not only from the perspective of appreciation but also from the perspective of spiritual symbolism.

  • Jewelry mergers and acquisitions continue, Japanese high-end jewelry brand Tasaki sold for 4.8 billion!
Jewelry mergers and acquisitions continue, Japanese high-end jewelry brand Tasaki sold for 4.8 billion!               Recently, Asian investment fund FountainVest Partners and Japanese fund Unison Capital acquired Japanese jewelry seller Tasaki Co. Industry insiders believe that the investment in Tasaki Co. marks its deep bet and confidence in the natural diamond jewelry market.               01/ The total amount of the acquisition is approximately RMB 4.8 billion               The total amount of the acquisition is estimated to be 100 billion yen, or approximately 4.8 billion yuan.     Tasaki & Co. mainly owns Tasaki, a Japanese luxury jewelry brand known for its quality pearls and unique designs, and AHKAH, a "mini jewelry" brand.         Regarding this acquisition, market analysts said that this is a high recognition of the brand value and market potential of TASIQI by the capital, and also a firm confidence of the capital in the long-term growth prospects of the natural diamond jewelry market. In recent years, natural diamonds, as rare and precious natural resources, are still favored by consumers for their unique emotional value and investment attributes, especially in the Asian market, where the public's demand for high-end jewelry is growing.       It is reported that this acquisition is FountainVest Capital's debut in the Japanese market, and it is also a strategic move for it and Unison Capital to jointly develop the high-end consumer goods field, especially the jewelry industry.       According to people familiar with the matter, the two investment institutions have high hopes for the future development of Tasaki & Co., and plan to push this jeweler with a long history and exquisite craftsmanship to new heights through a series of strategic adjustments and business expansion. In the long run, FountainVest Capital and Unison Capital hope to maximize investment returns through future listings or resales, although they have not yet disclosed a specific timetable or further expansion goals.             02/ The jewelry industry cannot escape mergers and acquisitions               Let’s first talk about one of the buyers in this transaction, FountainVest Partners, a Chinese private equity fund.       One of FountainVest's most well-known cases is that it joined hands with the Anta consortium to acquire Arc'teryx, the favorite clothing brand of middle-aged people, in 2018. At that time, FountainVest formed a consortium with Anta Sports, Chip Wilson, the founder of lululemon, and Tencent to acquire Arc'teryx's parent company Amer Sports for 4.66 billion euros. FountainVest held a 21.4% stake in the seller's company.       This transaction also became the largest overseas acquisition in China's sporting goods industry.       Talking back to the jewelry industry, the salient features of this industry are heavy assets and high industry barriers. Not all players can successfully occupy a place in the industry. It is not easy to develop and grow. This has also led to some well-known jewelry companies choosing to be merged and acquired in recent years.       For example, this year, there have been several mergers and acquisitions, including jewelry companies selling at bargain prices.       In October, LUSIX, an Israeli diamond cultivation company, was sold to Fenix, a Belgian cultured diamond company, for $4 million. It is understood that LUSIX was founded in 2016 and has completed a total of $152 million in financing, with investors including LVMH Luxury Ventures, the venture capital department of LVMH Group, and Ragnar Crossover Fund.       In November, Yuyuan issued an announcement that it had introduced 36 external investors to its subsidiary Yuyuan Jewelry Fashion Group Co., Ltd. to invest in the partnership platform and acquire shares in the jewelry fashion group through the partnership platform. Among them, the 36 external investors have subscribed to a total of 770 million yuan in the partnership platform investment shares;       In September, Swiss luxury group Richemont completed the acquisition of Italian contemporary high-end jewelry brand Vhernier. The former purchased 100% of the brand's shares from the Italian Traglio family. In the jewelry industry, Richemont is a veritable internationally renowned luxury group, which owns high-end brands Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. The group also acquired Italian high-end jewelry brand Buccellati for 230 million euros (about 1.795 billion yuan) in 2019. In the group's 2024 fiscal year, its jewelry department's sales reached 14.2 billion euros, accounting for 68% of total sales, and its operating profit margin reached 33.1%.       However, in the past few years, there have been many financing transactions in the jewelry industry. Data shows that from 2010 to the third quarter of 2022, there have been 416 financing events in China's jewelry industry, with a disclosed financing amount of more than 23 billion yuan.       Since the beginning of this year, several gold jewellery companies have achieved IPOs. The most recent one was in November 2024, when Mengjinyuan completed its listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company mainly focuses on the gold jewellery market in third-tier cities. In China, gold fever is a fashion trend that is not easy to ignore, and gold is no longer just the "favourite of aunts".       According to the "In-depth Research Report on China's Gold and Silver Jewelry Market 2024-2029", the scale of China's jewelry market has jumped from 580 billion yuan in 2018 to 820 billion yuan in 2023, with a compound annual growth rate of 7.2%. In 2024, the market size of the industry is expected to exceed 920.1 billion yuan.       Jewelry M&A cases continue to emerge, which undoubtedly sends a strong signal to the industry and beyond. The jewelry market is still seen as a safe haven for steady growth, attracting more and more capital attention and investment. (Comprehensive China Business News, Dongshishi Capital Views)

  • Mining TikTok, how can overseas merchants achieve growth in crystal jewelry business?
Mining TikTok, how can overseas merchants achieve growth in crystal jewelry business?             Recently, TikTok announced a major update: the crystal jewelry category is now open to all cross-border merchants, which means that more jewelry merchants can participate in this fast-growing market.     This change not only provides new sales opportunities for merchants, but also brings more choices to consumers. Below, we will analyze in depth the issues related to the overseas expansion of crystal jewelry, and provide more reference and thinking for jewelry industry players.                 01 / Industry prospects: How big is the potential of the crystal jewelry market?               In recent years, there has been a wave of pursuit of physical and mental health around the world, and people are increasingly interested in natural therapies and spiritual pursuits, which has brought unprecedented development opportunities to the crystal jewelry market. According to Statista data, the global crystal jewelry market size is expected to grow from US$1.29 billion in 2022 to US$22.83 billion in 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 14.5%. Online channels will become the main sales channel for the crystal jewelry market.     According to Grand View Research, the North American crystal jewelry market is expected to reach $8.1 billion and Europe will reach $6.5 billion by 2025. The demand for crystal jewelry in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in China and India, is growing rapidly and is expected to become the main driver of global crystal jewelry market growth in the next few years.     How to define the crystal jewelry category?     The crystal jewelry category covers a variety of jewelry types, including but not limited to pearls, silver, platinum, jade, semi-precious stones, amber, artificial gemstones, beeswax, natural crystals and non-natural crystals, etc. These jewelry are widely welcomed by consumers due to their unique aesthetic value and diverse styles.     Pearls: As a classic piece of jewellery, pearls symbolise elegance and class, and are suitable for all occasions, especially weddings and formal events.     Silver: Silver jewelry is favored by young consumers because of its moderate price and suitability for daily wear.     Platinum: Platinum jewelry is seen as a symbol of luxury and attracts high-end consumers, especially during engagements and weddings.     Emeralds and Semi-precious Stones: These natural gemstones are prized by collectors and fashionistas for their unique colors and textures.     Amber and beeswax: Natural amber and beeswax attract many consumers who pursue personalization with their uniqueness and historical value.     Man-made gemstones and non-natural crystals: These products are more affordable, suitable for the mass market, and can meet the fast-changing fashion trends.       According to market research, the crystal jewelry market is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. Consumers' increasing focus on personalized and sustainable products has created a broad market opportunity for jewelry merchants.               02 / Industry trends: Individuality, cross-border, and sustainable development lead the trend                 We have summarized the market trends in the following five aspects:     1. Personalized customization becomes the new favorite: Consumers are eager to have unique crystal jewelry products. Customized engraving, exclusive design, constellation crystal, birthstone, and energy crystal products customized according to personal needs will become new growth points.   2. The concept of sustainable development runs through: Consumers are paying more and more attention to the environmental protection and social responsibility of products. Choosing crystals from ethical sourcing, using environmentally friendly packaging materials, and supporting environmental protection and public welfare will become a trend.   3. Cross-border integration of crystals and other products: For example, the combined sales of crystals with tarot cards, essential oils, aromatherapy, yoga and other products can meet the diversified consumption needs of consumers and increase the average customer price and brand influence.   4. The concept of the metaverse brings new opportunities to the crystal market: The emergence of emerging concepts such as virtual crystals and NFT crystals has brought new development opportunities to the crystal market. Sellers can actively explore the combination of the metaverse and crystal products to create more attractive products and marketing models.             03 / Domestic advantages: new opportunities for cross-border merchants                 1. Directly shipped from China     This category allows merchants to ship directly from China, which not only reduces logistics costs and transportation time, but also allows merchants to respond to market demand more quickly. As the world's largest jewelry producer, China has abundant resources and a mature supply chain, allowing merchants to purchase and distribute more efficiently.       2. Diverse product selection     Merchants can choose from a wide range of product lines based on market trends and consumer demand. From classic pearl jewelry to fashionable non-natural crystals, merchants can conduct precision marketing based on different target markets. This diverse selection not only meets the needs of different consumers, but also helps merchants stand out in a highly competitive market.                 04 / Marketing empowerment: How can jewelry brands better grasp overseas marketing?               1. Explore users’ creativity and create content with fans       When brands conduct overseas marketing, a mistake they often make is to think of creative ideas within their own team, while ignoring local users who are well versed in popular culture and have endless creativity. On platforms like TikTok, user participation and creativity have become a new driving force for content dissemination.     The report shows that compared with other traditional social media, users are 1.3 times more likely to engage in co-creation and exchange of ideas on TikTok. This shows that TikTok users are no longer satisfied with passively accepting content, but are eager to become part of the story and participate in the creative process. They are good at finding and planting "hooks" in stories, connecting unexpected plots and creating new forms of content.     In terms of stimulating user creativity, brands can inspire new marketing ideas by co-creating content with KOLs and their fan groups. In addition, when creating creative content, brands should also make full use of the creative tools on the TikTok platform to expand their ideas. Tools such as the Creative Assistant can generate suitable video scripts based on brand needs.       2. Establish two-way interaction with consumers to enhance brand trust       There is a saying in the marketing world: "Trust is the currency of marketing." In today's globalized market, building consumer trust is crucial to the long-term development of a brand. Especially for overseas markets, from product exposure to conversion purchase, the trust relationship between merchants and consumers becomes a key factor affecting the success of transactions. In this context, the relationship between brands and consumers should not be limited to simple buying and selling transactions, but should be based on mutual trust.     In order to build trust with users, brands must first establish a closer connection with users. On TikTok, brands can use the platform's unique language and culture to effectively communicate with users. For example, brands can use user needs and pain points as entry points to resonate with users and promote e-commerce conversions; or they can directly demonstrate product usage scenarios and effects to increase users' purchasing confidence.     In summary, TikTok, as the world's largest short video platform with more than one billion active users, provides businesses with huge exposure opportunities.       Through creative short videos, merchants can vividly demonstrate the design and wearing effects of products, while telling brand stories and enhancing consumers' emotional resonance. With the increasing demand for sustainable and personalized products among consumers, cross-border merchants are at the right time to sell crystal jewelry on TikTok.

  • Richemont Group's new CEO decodes future consumption trends and growth opportunities in the jewelry industry
Richemont Group's new CEO decodes future consumption trends and growth opportunities in the jewelry industry               In June this year, Swiss luxury giant Richemont announced that Nicolas Bos, the current CEO of its French high-end jewelry brand Van Cleef & Arpels, was officially promoted to the position of CEO of Richemont. Nicolas Bos has worked at Richemont for 32 years since 1992, and has worked for Van Cleef & Arpels for the past 24 years. He was promoted to CEO of the brand in 2013, and his achievements during this period have been highly praised by the group.     The jewelry department, which includes three jewelry brands Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Buccellati, has always been the core business of Richemont Group. According to the group's latest financial data for the first half of fiscal year 2025 ending September 30, 2024, in the current difficult environment, the jewelry department's sales still achieved a year-on-year growth of 2% (4% at a fixed exchange rate), and its contribution to the group's sales rose to 70%.     Nicolas Bos attended the analyst meeting after the release of the financial report for the first time as the group's CEO, sharing his latest assessment of the jewelry industry's prospects and the changes in consumer behavior he has observed.       Note: Richemont Group abolished the position of group chief executive officer (CEO) in 2016 and appointed Jérôme Lambert, then the group’s chief operating officer (COO), as CEO in 2018. However, according to the Financial Times, his actual responsibilities are more limited than those of Nicolas Bos today, because the CEOs of the group’s two top brands, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, and the head of the group’s finance department do not report to him.             01 More and more men are wearing jewelry               It’s interesting that sometimes there are positives to the way the world is doing, like we see more and more men wearing jewellery that wasn’t originally designed for men. This is especially true at Van Cleef & Arpels. We’ve never had celebrity endorsements and we’ve stayed away from the world of sports and masculinity. But during the Olympics we saw a lot of male athletes wearing the Alhambra bracelet (below). I think they see it as a symbol of good luck.         Maybe 15 or 20 years ago, a lot of men wouldn't wear this type of jewelry, but now they feel very comfortable with it. I don't know if this will become a major trend or a new market segment, but it's certainly an interesting phenomenon. This is the only emerging trend I've seen in the past six months or a year.     Everything else is pretty stable, and we don't see any particular trends in product lines or customers. All collections and regions are performing quite well. High-end and top-quality jewelry, custom jewelry, special orders are all showing strong resilience. Cartier launched its latest high-end jewelry collection in Vienna before the summer, which was a huge success. So we see very good momentum in the high-end market. At the same time, all classic collections are also performing well, such as Cartier's relaunched Love and Trinity collections, Van Cleef & Arpels' Alhambra, Buccellati's Macri, etc. It can be said that it is blooming across the board.               02 What are the advantages of Richemont Group in the jewelry industry?                 When it comes to jewelry, I think we've been through many, many cycles in the past - I have some bias towards jewelry, of course. But I think part of the beauty of it is that it's both delightful and quite fashionable at the same time, and it always has investment value. We've seen in more difficult or more complex cycles that this security associated with the investment value of jewelry is actually a very positive factor.     So, in a way, I think what our brand does quite well in that regard is to maintain the appeal and fashion element of jewellery, while combining its investment value and heritage significance. If you think about it, the Alhambra collection was launched in 1968 and has been quite fashionable ever since. The Love bracelet was created in 1969, so it has been popular for more than 50 years. I think that gives a lot of customers a sense of security. It also makes us quite optimistic about the further potential of jewellery in today's economy.     And, as we briefly discussed before, this potential also crosses different geographies and price segments. So, our jewelry brands are very focused on developing extraordinary and unique high-end jewelry pieces, but at the same time, they also maintain jewelry products that are accessible to a very wide customer base, even if not everyone can afford them, and that are relevant to all cultures and geographies. I think this is the advantage of Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Buccellati in this area.     Finally, one of the advantages of the jewelry category is that the price range is very wide. From Alhambra pendants and Love bracelets to the most expensive high-end jewelry, the price range is very wide, which sometimes provides more market opportunities than other categories.                 03 The importance of “brand” in the jewelry category continues to grow                 I remember 20, 25 years ago, we would generally assess that branded jewelry was maybe 5% of the market. I think today, we would probably assess it to be around 25%, maybe more, and it's still evolving. It's hard to know exactly to what extent and how fast, but we are definitely seeing the importance of "brand" in the jewelry category continue to grow.     Interestingly, although numerically this is an exception, even in a country like India which has traditionally been very focused on non-branded jewellery, which we call unbranded jewellery, we are now seeing a growing traction in branded jewellery. Enhance. While the numbers aren't yet significant, it's another sign of a growing phenomenon in branded jewelry that's far from over.     To meet current and future demand, our Jewellery Maisons continue to invest in their production capacities: Cartier opens a new manufacturing facility in Valenza, Italy, Van Cleef & Arpels acquires new ateliers in various locations in France, and Buccellati begins operations at its recently acquired Italian site.                 04 The entry of “non-traditional players” into the jewelry field is a positive factor                 The competitive landscape in jewelry is constantly changing and evolving. Slowly but definitely changing. If we look back over the last few decades, we can see the emergence of some new players, we could call them new pure players, like Messika, which has done very well as a jewelry brand. Of course, there are also more options from fashion brands, like Chanel, Dior and Hermès, which have reinvented the jewelry offering, sometimes including high jewelry.     So it's an evolving space. Obviously, a big change is the "non-traditional players" like these fashion and luxury brands entering the market and becoming quite significant. Ultimately, that's led to more competition, but it's also led to more creativity. That means jewelry is attracting more customers who might not have considered buying jewelry before. So we see that as a positive. It's a very dynamic category that continues to grow. I believe that today, especially in this period that we're in, brands are really focusing on what makes them special and what makes them different, and avoiding confusion and overlap.     This is also the reason for the various successes we have seen within the Group and elsewhere, when brands focus on their specific identity and DNA, they succeed.     But from Richemont's perspective, we still like those traditional, long-established jewelers that set the tone for the jewelry space. So we are very happy to welcome (Richemont's newly acquired Italian jewelry brand) Vhernier, which was founded in the 1980s and is one of the brands that has been able to develop a very unique new style in jewelry while still being a pure player in the jewelry space. This is exactly the type of brand we are happy to include in our portfolio, which really complements the brands we already have. (Source: Luxe.co)

  • Classic reproduction and innovative experience, what new attempts will the international jewelry brands make at the CIIE?
Classic reproduction and innovative experience, what new attempts will the international jewelry brands make at the CIIE?             It is not only about sharing the new consumption and business model innovation trends at home and abroad, but also about sharing the long-standing cultural assets. For jewelry brands and groups that embody exquisite craftsmanship and classic marks, the role of industry events is obvious.     Under the overall downward trend of the macro environment, the 7th China International Import Expo still showed a "spillover effect". This year, the 360,000 square meters of exhibition booths at the CIIE brought together 3,496 international companies from 129 countries and regions. Among them, major jewelry brands such as Cartier, Bulgari, Tiffany, Boucheron, Pomellato, Qeelin, Swarovski, etc. gathered at the exhibition site, continuing their craftsmanship while also bringing more first-time new products and unique cultural experiences.               01 Facing the Chinese market The CIIE has become a window for cultural innovation for international jewelry brands             In recent years, facing the huge consumer group, the international luxury industry has paid more and more attention to the Chinese market. More and more luxury brands have gone out of the circle through differentiated and localized marketing to narrow the distance with domestic consumers.     At this CIIE, major hard luxury jewelry brands took the exploration of brand value, such as the dissemination of craftsmanship aesthetics, as a starting point, paid attention to China's unique cultural resources, and focused on the aesthetic and consumption value orientation of the Chinese market, fully demonstrating the sincerity of equal dialogue and the inexhaustible innovation ability of brands or groups.     The Bulgari exhibition hall specially exhibited art works in collaboration with Chinese artists. In the Bulgari exhibition hall at the CIIE, the artwork "Zhulong" created by visual artist Wu Jianan uses the ancient Chinese snake-bodied creator god "Zhulong" in "Classic of Mountains and Seas" as the main image, and uses modern cutting, inlay aesthetics and gold and silver coating techniques to form an intricate structure and effect. Previously, the work was unveiled in many cultural and art centers around the world as part of the Bulgari "Serpenti Factory" art project global tour, and met with guests at this CIIE.     The highly representative Bulgari Serpenti high-end jewelry and high-end watch series were also presented on site. The magnificent gemstones complemented each other harmoniously, showing the brand's bold style, and the magnificent design fully demonstrated Bulgari's exquisite craftsmanship.                                                                         In addition, Bulgari set up interactive installations on site, inviting guests to experience the endless craftsmanship legend vividly presented by Bulgari. Among them, the "Serpenti Infinito" VR installation provides the audience with a virtual reality experience, giving life to the brand's iconic symbol, the snake, reflecting infinite changes and rebirth. Guests can appreciate the evolution of Serpenti's timeless design, witness its constant pursuit of innovation and art, and reflect the spirit of the times. At the same time, through the interactive screen installation, guests can also participate in the "Beyond Time" interactive experience to appreciate the brand's rich and timeless heritage in the field of watchmaking.                                                                         Qeelin, which has always been good at integrating traditional oriental culture with modern aesthetics, took the theme of "Craftsmanship Unfolds, Clouds Rise and Gather East and West" at this year's CIIE. The exhibition area was cleverly connected by hundreds of undulating transparent columns to form a poetic landscape screen. The four series of exquisite products brought by Qeelin also vividly interpreted the Chinese elements in the brand DNA.         In addition to the brand's classic Wulu series and the "Wulu Diamond" series inlaid with rare diamonds, Qeelin also presented the "Dunhuang Bo Bo" series inspired by the flying fairies in the Dunhuang murals, and the "Bamboo" high-end jewelry series that cleverly uses cutting and inlaying jade techniques.                                                                             02 Cultural experience needs are improving Inheritance and craftsmanship "shine" at the CIIE           Today, consumers pay more attention to value preservation and multi-scenario usage value. Their understanding of a "high-quality lifestyle" has become more three-dimensional and diverse as their luxury "qualifications" increase: among light, medium and heavy customers, we can observe an advancement in demand from "material" to "service" and then to cultural experience.     In the "Cloud Carpenter's Pavilion" workshop, guests can watch up close the artisans of the Parisian high-end jewelry brand Boucheron demonstrate their outstanding skills on the spot. These skills include the meticulous carving of gold works, especially the ancient and exquisite "embossing" art, and the assembly process of the brand's iconic question mark necklace. Each step reflects the harmonious unity that Boucheron has achieved between inheriting traditional craftsmanship and pursuing innovative design.         At the same time, the famous Italian jewelry brand Pomellato also invited senior craftsmen from Casa Pomellato in Milan to demonstrate the inlay and polishing techniques of its classic series of works on site. This is not only a visual feast, but also a symbol of the continuation and development of Milan's unique craft tradition.         Cartier has specially set up a female craftsman portrait exhibition area to display eight female craftsmen from French and Swiss jewelry, watchmaking workshops and factories. Through the tools they use every day and the works created with this craft, they jointly present the rich stories behind the exquisite craftsmanship. The eight manual skills of gem carving, polishing, gem setting, casting, complex watchmaking, bracelet assembly and stamping vividly reflect how the exquisite craftsmanship can be continued through the narration of the craftsmen's own experiences.         Among them, Roberta, a gemstone engraver and one of the protagonists of the portrait series, was invited to the scene to show the extraordinary charm of gemstone engraving technology to the audience up close. This year's new high-end jewelry Aquaflora was created by Roberta, showing her outstanding gemstone engraving skills.     The central gemstone of this work is a natural tourmaline with a variety of tones such as yellow, orange, pink and red, which appropriately echoes the fighting fish pattern unexpectedly hidden under the flowers. At the same time, the new high-end jewelry works of the Grain de Café series and the Cartier Privé series Tortue single-button chronograph gold model were also unveiled at this CIIE as new works for 2024 that embody polishing and stamping technology.     As for Tiffany, it brought the classic "Bird on the Rock" brooch and flora and fauna works by the brand's legendary designer Jean Schlumberger to the CIIE. As one of the most talented artists in the 20th century, Jean Schlumberger fully demonstrated his unrestrained imagination with his extraordinary designs. The "Bird on the Rock" design has now become one of Tiffany's most representative jewelry works, symbolizing joy, optimism and miracles.         In addition, Tiffany also exhibited a joint series launched in cooperation with the luxury luggage brand RIMOWA. The RIMOWA x Tiffany limited edition joint series includes three works: RIMOWA x Tiffany limited edition joint series jewelry storage box, RIMOWA x Tiffany limited edition joint series cabin luggage, and RIMOWA x Tiffany limited edition joint series mini luggage. This series pays tribute to Tiffany's legendary design. The diamond-like pattern complements RIMOWA's iconic groove design and aluminum-magnesium alloy material, bringing a touching tactile experience.           As the Chinese consumer market continues to grow, more and more luxury jewelry brands have begun to actively explore how to increase market penetration through localization strategies. From the perspective of brand communication, building an all-round and three-dimensional communication bridge in the right field to convey brand concepts and aesthetic connotations has become a must on the road to brand communication upgrade.     From the perspective of market strategy, luxury jewelry brands will continue to find the best balance between globalization and localization, constantly innovate jewelry design, promote the exchange and integration of Chinese and Western cultures, and bring more artistic and emotional experiences to Chinese consumers.

  • What does a 3-pound emerald look like? Gemfields has launched the largest high-quality emerald rough stone to date - the Rhino Chipembele Emerald
What does a 3-pound emerald look like? Gemfields has launched the largest high-quality emerald rough stone to date - the Rhino Chipembele Emerald             On Monday, November 8, 2021, at 11:00 GMT, Gemfields is proud to introduce the Chipembele Rhino Emerald, the largest (weighing approximately 7,525 carats, approximately 1.505 kg) high-quality emerald rough discovered recently at the brand’s Kagem emerald mine in Zambia.         Figure 1. Gemfields in Zambia displays the high-quality "Rhino Chipembele" emerald, weighing 7,525 carats, produced in the Kaqimu mining area (Source: Gemfields)       Traditionally, only the rarest and uncut emeralds are eligible for naming. Although there is no official archival record, according to industry consensus, no more than 30 gems have been named so far, and single gems weighing more than 1,000 carats are extremely rare. This boulder weighing about 7,525 carats (equivalent to 1,505 grams) was named "Chipembele Emerald". "Chipembele" means "rhino" in the Bemba local language, making it one of the most noble and dazzling treasures in the world, extremely rare and well-deserved.   The Chipembele Rhino Emerald was discovered at the Kagemu Emerald Mine, which is jointly owned by Gemfields and the Zambian government. The mine is the world's largest single emerald deposit. Two emerald rough stones named "Insofu" and "Inkalamu" were discovered near the mine in 2010 and 2018 respectively. The former means "elephant" in the local language of Bemba, and the latter means "lion". The names are enough to show how precious these two emerald rough stones are. The Chipembele Rhino Emerald was discovered by famous geologists Manas Banerjee and Richard Kapeta and their team in the Kaqimu area on July 13 this year. Kapeta in the mining team was also the leader of the discovery of the Inkalamu emerald rough stone that year (October 2018). According to people's recollections of the whole process of discovering the Chipembele Rhino Emerald - everyone was so surprised that they couldn't speak, and Kapeta was overjoyed and shouted "Look at this rhino horn!" The name of the Chipembele Rhino Emerald was born from this.   This rare emerald rough stone, as big as a rhino horn, was formed under nearly perfect environmental conditions. It is rich in beryllium, chromium and vanadium. During the long geological process, it slowly crystallized into a huge hexagonal crystal with clear edges and corners, and now has a smooth and transparent glass-like delicate form. However, to mine such a huge, rare and high-quality emerald rough stone intact, it is thanks to the skilled technology of the Kaqimu mining team. With rich experience, the team chose soft mining techniques to mine the emerald mineralized area, and finally successfully excavated this unparalleled rhino horn-shaped emerald rough stone. Through its rich and deep dark green color and the faint golden light, we can fully imagine that after cutting and polishing, this treasure will be made into an extraordinary product that will make all kinds of buyers crazy, elegant and magnificent, and elegant and extraordinary.   It is reported that this breathtaking treasure will be publicly auctioned at the next Gemfields emerald auction and will be previewed in early November. At that time, invited guests will be able to see its extraordinary brilliance. The emeralds selected for the auction will also be sent to Gübelin for proof of origin certification and source traceability services according to routine procedures. All emeralds that are identified will be embedded with nano-scale particles to encode and mark the source information of the gemstone, including the location of the mine, the date of mining, and the mining operator, which will become the DNA that the emerald carries throughout its life. This Gübelin-exclusive "Emerald Paternity Test" service aims to provide buyers with more detailed, clear and reliable information on the provenance of gemstones, helping the gemstone industry to improve its transparency and promote industry credibility. The buyer who successfully bid for the Chipembele rhino emerald can embed a unique nano-tag in the DNA tag of this rare treasure to ensure that the gemstones cut and polished from the Chipembele rhino emerald can prove their origin.   It is a source of pride that the Chipembele rhino emerald discovered this time is the most important emerald rough stone among the major discoveries of the Kagemu Emerald Mine in Zambia so far. The other two rough stones are Insofu Elephant Emerald (weighing about 6225 carats) and Inkalamu Lion Emerald (weighing about 5655 carats) in descending order of weight. These three rough emerald rough stones named after the most representative wild animals in the African grasslands are a lofty tribute to the vast ecological environment of Africa, symbolizing the vast primitive grasslands of Africa, and reminding people that the ecological environment is equally important and precious with the mineral wealth and colored gemstones nurtured under its soil. That year, 10% of the proceeds from the sale of the Inkalamu lion emerald rough stone were donated to African charities, benefiting wildlife protection projects, including the large carnivore protection plan in the Niassa National Reserve in northern Mozambique, and the carnivore tracking plan implemented in various parts of Zambia. This time, the Chipembele rhino emerald also continues the tradition, and part of the auction proceeds will be donated to the conservation project of North Luangwa National Park in Zambia to fund various measures to protect the endangered wild black rhinoceros.       Figure 5, Nsofu Elephant Emerald (weighing about 6225 carats). (Source: Gemfields)       Figure 6, Inkalamu Lion Emerald (weighing about 5655 carats). Source: Gemfields       Jackson Mtonga, deputy manager of Sort House at Gemfields’ Kakimu Emerald Mine in Zambia, said: “One of the main themes of Gemfields is that Africa’s gem resources must benefit the host economies of the gemstone origin countries, while the derived wealth must be used for local ecological protection activities, and by funding public welfare projects such as education, health care and livelihood assistance, it will benefit future generations. This time, we are also very happy to announce that the Chipembele rhino emerald rough will uphold this tradition and donate the proceeds from the auction to fund local rhino conservation programs, actively responding to Zambia’s wildlife protection movement.”           About Gemfields     Gemfields is a leading global supplier of responsibly sourced coloured gemstones. As the operator and 75% owner of the Kagemu emerald mine in Zambia, widely regarded as the world’s largest emerald mine, and the Montepuez ruby mine in Mozambique, one of the world’s most important recently discovered ruby deposits, Gemfields believes that coloured gemstones should be mined and marketed in accordance with the three key principles of transparency, legality and integrity.   Gemfields has opened a state-of-the-art coloured gemstone sorting room at its Mozambique mine, using state-of-the-art equipment such as optical sorters. In addition, Gemfields has established a proprietary gemstone grading system, pioneered an auction trading platform, and actively organized various marketing activities to further promote the rise of coloured gemstones in Africa. This achievement is inseparable from Gemfields’ belief that coloured gemstones should have a positive impact on their countries of origin and local communities.   In order to provide colored gemstones with reliable sources, Gemfields has adopted a series of business policies and practices that lead the industry, implement open and transparent auction procedures, actively operate community projects in the fields of health, education, livelihood, etc., and contribute to the conservation of African wildlife and biodiversity. In view of this, Gemfields believes that nature reserves are the habitats of these wild animals and are also key areas for the continuation of biodiversity. Therefore, the group firmly opposes mining operations in protected areas.   The Gemfields Foundation is an independently operated charitable organization under the group. Kind-hearted people can directly fund a number of community assistance projects and natural ecology and wildlife protection programs in Africa through the foundation, helping Gemfields' local public welfare and expanding the scope of beneficiaries.   Fabergé is not only an iconic brand with a long-standing reputation, but also a jewelry brand under the Gemfields Group. Fabergé's beautiful and moving ingenuity design allows Gemfields to more effectively spread the concept of "responsible mining of colored gemstones", thereby raising consumer awareness and helping Gemfields promote colored gemstones with reliable sources.

Topaz | November Birthstone         The world's largest topaz finished product - Brazilian Princess   Topaz         The world's largest topaz finished product "Princess of Brazil" Light yellow Weighing 21,327ct Grinded with 221 facets Valued at approximately $1.07 million Once included in the 1993 edition of "Guinness World's Largest Topaz" "Topaz | Princess of Brazil"             PART 01   Topaz     Physical properties of gemstones _______________________________________________________✦           English name: Topaz Mineralogical name: Topaz Chemical composition: Aluminofluorosilicate (AI2[SiO4][F·OH]2), containing trace elements such as Li, Be, Ca, Se Crystal system: Orthorhombic system Crystal habit: Columnar crystal shape, common single forms include orthorhombic columns, orthorhombic bipyramids, parallel double faces, etc., among which orthorhombic columns are more developed, and there are often vertical lines on the columns. In addition, there are gravel-like outputs of various shapes Cleavage: A set of complete bottom cleavage (due to the development of bottom cleavage, one end of the crystal is often cone-shaped and the other end is flat. During processing, the table surface needs to be oblique to the cleavage surface by more than 5°, otherwise the facets are not easy to polish) Hardness: 8 Relative density: 3.50~3.60 (usually 3.53~3.56) Refractive index: 1.61~1.64 Birefringence: 0.008~0.010Optical properties : Biaxial crystal positive light, often appears as pseudo-uniaxial crystal on the refractometer, because the difference between α and β values is only 0.001 Luster: Glass luster Dispersion: 0.014 (low) Inclusions: generally have initial cleavage, long tubular caves, flat and fine liquid inclusions and drop-shaped gas-liquid inclusions Luminescence: Blue and colorless topaz emit weak yellow-green light in long-wave ultraviolet light, yellow-brown and pink topaz emit orange-yellow light, and the fluorescence is weak in short-wave ultraviolet light                                                                       ✦ Hardness ✦     Topaz has a Mohs hardness of 8, which makes it the fourth hardest gemstone after diamond, ruby, and sapphire. This high hardness gives topaz excellent wear resistance, allowing it to maintain its luster and shape well during daily wear and not easily scratched or worn. Therefore, topaz is very suitable for jewelry, especially jewelry such as rings and bracelets that often come into contact with hard objects.         ✦ Durability ✦     Topaz is not only hard but also durable. It has good corrosion resistance to common chemicals such as alcohol and detergents, which means that topaz will not be easily corroded or damaged during daily cleaning and maintenance. In addition, topaz can withstand high temperatures and has strong heat resistance. It can remain stable at high temperatures above 900°C, which is beneficial for the processing and maintenance of gemstones.               PART 02   Topaz Origin and Gemstone Types _______________________________________________________✦           ✦ Topaz's main sources ✦     The main producing areas of topaz include Brazil, Pakistan, Namibia, Nigeria, Madagascar, Mexico, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and the United States. Minas Gerais, Brazil is one of the most important producing areas of high-quality topaz, and the raw stones produced are rich in color. China's topaz is mainly produced in Inner Mongolia, Jiangxi, Xinjiang and other places. Topaz is formed under high temperature and the action of volatile components. It is produced in granite pegmatite, crystal caves of acidic igneous rocks, greisen and high-temperature hydrothermal tungsten-tin quartz veins. It is produced as gravel in sedimentary layers.           ✦ Types of Topaz (by color) ✦     Imperial Topaz: Golden to orange-yellow, precious and rare. Yellow Topaz: Bright yellow, gorgeous color. Pink Topaz: Soft color, very popular among young people. Blue Topaz: Various colors, from light to dark, low value. Colorless Topaz: The most original color, often mistaken for diamond.         「Topaz」         Many blue topazes on the market are colorless or light blue topazes that have been irradiated to turn blue.                                                                             PART 03   Topaz Gemstone Treatment and Maintenance ___________________________________________________________________✦           31,000 carats (about 6.2kg) El-Dorado topaz (Source: Internet)           ✦ Topaz Treatment ✦       Most of the blue topaz on the market is obtained through radiation and heating. In addition, there is "electroplated topaz", whose iridescent effect is presented through artificial thin film coating. The main treatment methods of topaz are as follows:   1. Heat treatment: Yellow-toned topaz produced in Central Asia such as Brazil and Pakistan can become pink and red after heating.   2. Irradiation + heat treatment: Most blue topaz is produced by irradiating colorless topaz first and then heating it to remove the yellow and brown tones. This color change method is ideal, but there will be residual radioactivity. Manufacturers generally store it for more than one year before leaving the factory, so it is safe to wear the color-changed topaz. The color-changed blue topaz is very stable and can be considered a permanent change.   3. Coating treatment: Colorless topaz can become blue-green, multi-color (like a kaleidoscope), red, etc. after coating treatment. Some studies believe that this method is not durable enough and may wear out or partially peel off after a few years.   4. Diffusion treatment: Through the surface diffusion method, the colorless topaz can be changed into blue, blue-green, blue-purple, etc. The color is stable and more durable than coating treatment, which can almost be regarded as a permanent change.             ✦ Topaz care ✦       Although topaz has excellent hardness and durability, you still need to pay attention to the following points when caring for it:   1. Avoid severe impact: Although topaz is hard, it is brittle and strong impact may cause it to crack.   2. Avoid extreme temperature changes: Although topaz is resistant to high temperatures, extreme temperature changes may cause thermal stress to it, causing internal cracks.   3. Avoid using steam or ultrasonic cleaners when cleaning to avoid damage. It is recommended to use mild soapy water and a soft cloth for cleaning.   In summary, the high hardness and durability of topaz make it an ideal gem material for use in various jewelry designs. As long as it is properly cared for, topaz can maintain its beauty and luster for a long time.               PART 04   History and meaning of Topaz gemstone ___________________________________________________________________✦                                                                           ✦ History of Topaz ✦     The history of topaz can be traced back to ancient Egypt. Legend has it that it was related to an Egyptian princess who was exiled to a small island that produced topaz and was revered by the islanders. In Europe, topaz was used in royal jewelry, especially in France and Spain in the 18th century, when the popularity of topaz reached its peak. Topaz is also known as the "stone of hope", symbolizing the sun god who gives life. You can be blessed by the sun.           ✦ The meaning of topaz ✦       1.Sincere friendship Sincere friendship is one of the main meanings of topaz. Yellow topaz is considered the birthstone of November, expressing people's yearning for friendship and happiness.     2.Confidence and decisiveness Topaz also symbolizes confidence and decisiveness. Its soft and bright color can give the wearer confidence and courage. It also symbolizes wisdom.     3.Sincere love Topaz symbolizes true love and is also a commemorative gemstone for the 23rd wedding anniversary. When couples wear topaz, they can express their sincere and deep love for each other.               PART 05   The world's most precious topaz ___________________________________________________________________✦         In addition to the "Brazilian Princess" mentioned at the beginning   There are many precious topaz stones in the world↓         ✦ El-Dorado Topaz ✦       The 31,000-carat (6.2-kg) El-Dorado topaz is one of the largest faceted gemstones in the world. It was discovered in 1984 in a mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and is now part of the Programa Royal Collection in Spain. The original El-Dorado topaz weighs 81.57 pounds (37 kg). During the processing, it lost almost 80% of its weight in pursuit of a more perfect emerald cut, good clarity, and yellow-brown faceted product.           ✦ 'Lua de Maraba' Topaz ✦       The "Lua de Maraba" topaz is the second largest polished topaz in the world, weighing 25,250 carats and measuring 18×15×10 cm. The name "Lua de Maraba" comes from Portuguese, meaning "The Moon of Maraba". The "Lua de Maraba" topaz is octagonal cut, and its good transparency and rare gray tone make it a unique faceted gemstone piece.         ✦ American Golden Topaz ✦       This topaz, called American Golden, weighs 22,892.5 carats and is the third largest faceted topaz in the world. Warm tones such as brown, orange and reddish brown can be seen on this topaz. It took Leon Agee two years to cut the American Golden topaz from a 26-pound (about 11.8kg) round rough stone found in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The final product has 172 facets and a bright honey-gold color.           ✦ Ostro Topaz ✦       This stunning blue topaz weighs 9,381 carats, about 2 kilograms, is nearly 6 inches long and 4.5 inches wide, and is oval-cut, about the size of a rugby ball. The amazing thing about this stone is not only its size, but also its rich electric blue color and excellent transparency. This stone was discovered deep in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil in 1986 by a British adventurer named Max Ostro, and the gem was named Ostro after him.         ✦ Marbella Topaz ✦       This blue topaz is called "Marbella", weighs 8,225 carats (about 1.6kg) and measures 5.11x3.93x 2.75 inches. This gem is not only known for its size, but also for its carefully crafted oval cut, brilliant color and perfect transparency. It is now in the Smithsonian Museum in the United States. The "Marbella" topaz was originally called "Topaz Azul" (Spanish for blue topaz). It was renamed "Marbella" in 2010 because the deep blue color of this gem just matches the hue of the Mediterranean Sea near Marbella. Marbella is located on the southern coast of Spain, near the Strait of Gibraltar.         The main conclusions of the article are as follows: (1) The topaz produced in the Guobaoshan area of Gansu Province is mainly colorless, light blue and dark blue. The crystals are well developed, and a considerable number of them are gem-grade. They are coexisting with minerals such as smoky quartz, feldspar, and muscovite to form rare classic mineral specimens in China. They have great scientific research and economic value and are worthy of further prospecting and exploration. The Guobaoshan area is expected to become the first important gem-grade topaz production area and classic mineral specimen production area in China.   (2) Electron probe analysis shows that the calculated molecular formula of natural blue topaz is consistent with the theoretical value, containing relatively high Cs and relatively less OH, which may be an important color-causing factor, but further work is still needed to confirm.

  • Learn about a gemstone - Lapis Lazuli
Learn about a gemstone - Lapis Lazuli           Lapis lazuli is a metamorphic rock composed of several minerals, including lapis lazuli, calcite, pyrite and other silicate minerals. The name comes from the Persian word lazhward, which means blue, and lapis, which is Latin, which means rock. The mining history of lapis lazuli, the "national stone" of Afghanistan, can be traced back 6,000 years. Lapis lazuli is also one of the oldest mineral pigments. The color ground from lapis lazuli is called "ultramarine".               The color of lapis lazuli is mainly dark blue, purple blue, sky blue, green blue, etc. Its color is evenly distributed, showing a deep and textured color. At the same time, the texture of lapis lazuli is fine, crack-free, and has the characteristics of glass luster to waxy luster. Good lapis lazuli has a pure dark blue color, no cracks, fine texture, and no calcite impurities. It is top-grade if it does not contain Venus (pyrite) or has very beautiful Venus.       Lapis lazuli, known as the "Stone of Wisdom", can help improve people's concentration and thinking ability. It enhances intuition and insight, making it a unique gem.       In addition, lapis lazuli is a traditional mascot in my country. Many people wear it on their bodies to help improve their own fortunes. From the perspective of the five elements, people born in the Year of the Snake are the most suitable to wear lapis lazuli. Since lapis lazuli has been a guardian stone of snakes since ancient times, it will not cause conflict, but also help to enhance their own wealth and career luck, and also make the wearer's mind clearer.                 Lapis lazuli has a long history dating back more than 6,000 years. It was highly valued by ancient civilizations, including the Egyptians, Mesopotamians, and Greeks. In ancient Egypt, lapis lazuli was associated with the gods and often used in funerary objects, symbolizing wealth and divine protection. Pharaohs would wear lapis lazuli jewelry, and the stone was often ground into powder to make the famous ultramarine pigment used in painting and cosmetics.   In Mesopotamia, lapis lazuli was an integral gem in royal clothing and artwork. It was believed to have protective properties and was often used in amulets and seals. The importance of this gem has lasted through the ages, appearing in the tombs of kings and artifacts from ancient cultures, highlighting its enduring value.   Lapis lazuli is primarily composed of the minerals celestite, calcite, pyrite, and other minerals. Its formation typically occurs in metamorphic rocks, especially in areas that have undergone intense geological processes. The most famous source of lapis lazuli is Afghanistan, specifically Badakhshan Province, which has been the main supplier of this gem for centuries.     Lapis lazuli's rich blue color comes from the sulfur in the lapis lazuli stone. The contrast of golden pyrite inclusions creates a stunning visual effect, making each stone unique. The geological conditions required for its formation are extremely rare, which adds to its value and appeal.   In contemporary society, lapis lazuli has transcended its historical use as a luxury item. Today, it is widely used in all forms of jewelry, artwork, and decorative items. • Distribution of Serpentine Jade Resources in China
Distribution of Serpentine Jade Resources in China           Serpentine is a general term for a hydrous magnesium-rich silicate mineral. Serpentine minerals mainly include chrysotile, lycheite and leaf serpentine. Serpentine jade is a mineral aggregate with serpentine minerals as the main component. Serpentine jade (Xiuyan jade) is widely distributed in nature and has different names for jade depending on its origin.     Such as Xinyi jade in Guangdong, Luchuan jade in Guangxi, Jiuquan jade in Gansu, Kunlun jade in Xinjiang, serpentine jade, also known as Xiuyan jade, is named after Xiuyan County, Anshan City, Liaoning Province. Xiuyan jade is one of the "Four Ancient Jades" in Chinese history.             PART 01   Liaoning Xiuyan Jade           Xiuyan serpentine jade is mainly produced in the Wagou area of Hadabei Town, Xiuyan. The 10-mile-long valley here has a mineral reserve of about 1.76 million tons and 76 jade ore bodies, making it the largest jade producing area in China. Serpentine Xiuyan jade has rich colors, including light green, emerald green, black green, white, yellow, light yellow, gray, etc., but green is the main color.                                                                     PART 02   Yingkou Jade           The serpentine jade produced in Dashiqiao, Yingkou City, Liaoning Province is a kind of traditional jade Xiuyan jade. In recent years, a large number of serpentine jade resources have been discovered in the Houxianyu boron mining area of Dashiqiao. Experts named it Yingkou jade and divided it into four varieties: emerald green jade, dark green jade, cloud jade, and bronze jade. Emerald green jade and dark green jade are uniform green and dark green respectively, with pure composition, less impurity mineral content, fine texture, higher Fe2+ content than Xiuyan jade, and darker color.         The texture of Yuncui jade is slightly rough, with mixed green and white spots, and a high content of impurity minerals such as calcite and dolomite.         Bronze jade is gray-black in color, has a coarse texture, is opaque, and contains a lot of residual olivine, making it suitable for making bronze antique jade.               PART 03   Serpentine Jade in Other Areas of Liaoning             There are also serpentine jade mines in Fengcheng, Kuandian, Dandong and Haicheng, Liaoning. The origin of serpentine jade in Kuandian, Liaoning is similar to that of serpentine jade in Xiuyan, Liaoning. The main mineral component is leaf serpentine, with a content of more than 90%. It is mainly composed of scaly metamorphic and micro-metamorphic structures, with a blocky structure. It has rich colors, mainly yellow-green and light green, with even color distribution, few impurities, and high transparency. Its basic properties are consistent with the evaluation and description of traditional Xiuyan jade in gemology.         The main mineral component of Liaoning Kuandian serpentine jade is antigorite, and the secondary minerals are calcite, talc, mica, brucite, etc. The color is rich, mainly yellow-green and light green, the color is uniform and there are few impurities, and some are white, blue-green, and dark green are rare.           PART 04   Gansu Jiuquan Jade             It is produced in the mountains near Jiuquan, Gansu. Because the mountain is called Qilian Mountain, it is also called Qilian Jade. The jade is dark green with many black spots. Geological identification shows that its mineral is serpentine, the same as Xiuyan Jade, but the jade color is very easy to distinguish from Xiuyan Jade.               PART 05   Wushan County Mandarin Duck Jade                 Yuanyang jade refers to ultrabasic rocks produced in Yuanyang Town, Wushan County, Gansu Province. Its mineral components are serpentine, carbonate, talc, magnetite and chrome spinel. The mineral name is serpentinite, which is a kind of young jasper. The distribution points of Yuanyang jade are mainly Qiujiaxia Mine and Miaoerwan Mine in Yuanyang Town, Wushan. Among them, Qiujiaxia Mine has rich reserves and good exposure. According to some data, the proven reserves of Wushan Yuanyang Jade in Tianshui, Gansu Province are 324 million ㎥, which is the second largest mine in the world. Wushan Yuanyang Jade began large-scale development in 1978.           PART 06   Hefei Feidong Serpentine Jade           The local media in Hefei once reported that serpentine jade resources were found in a mountain in Feidong County, Hefei City. Regarding the tip-off of "green glass stone found in the mountain", the reporter found a mine containing serpentine jade in the mountain rock in a town in the southeast of Feidong. Later, experts from the Provincial Geological Survey Institute confirmed that the green "glass stone" in the mountain is indeed a kind of jade, or it can be called "Hefei jade".                 PART 07   Guangxi Luchuan Jade             Luchuan Jade: Serpentine jade produced in Luchuan, Guangxi. It is a serpentine jade mainly formed by metamorphism of basic and ultrabasic rocks. However, the serpentine content is relatively low, generally only 55% to 75%, and it also contains a certain amount of chlorite, talc and tremolite, as well as a small amount of carbonate and other minerals. The crystal particles are also slightly coarse.                                                             In addition, Guangdong Xinyi jade and Guangxi Luchuan jade are both serpentine jades, and their geographical locations are very close, both located in the Yunkai Mountain area at the junction of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. Therefore, the mineralization mechanisms of the two should be very similar.           PART 08   Shandong Taishan Jade             Taishan jade is a kind of jade produced in the Taishan Mountains, and its main component is serpentine. According to the existing national standards, it can only be called serpentine jade or Xiuyan jade, and is mainly distributed in Shila Village and Jieshou Village. Taishan jade can be divided into Taishan jasper, Taishan black jade, Taishan emerald jade and Taishan purple gold jade according to color, impurities, structural characteristics, etc.         The main mineral component of Taishan jade is serpentine, accounting for more than 80% to 90%, accompanied by a small amount of chlorite, talc, asbestos, magnetite, etc., which are unevenly distributed.             PART 09   Serpentine in other areas of Shandong           A type of serpentine produced in Junan County, Shandong Province is called Junan jade. Junan jade is a black or nearly black blocky serpentine jade that is serpentinized from ultramafic rock. It has a coarse and opaque texture.         The Rizhao green stone, also known as Solo green stone or Luoshu jade, produced in Hushan Soloshu Village, Lanshan District, Rizhao, Shandong, is also a serpentine rock altered from ultrabasic rocks. Most of them are used as strange stones, and a few with excellent texture can be used as jade. The Laiyang jade produced in Jiangtuan, Laiyang, Shandong, is also known as Jiangtuan jade or Fengshan jade. It is a serpentinized marble, and the fully serpentinized ones can form serpentine jade.             PART 10   Guangdong Serpentine Jade             Xinyi Nanyu, also known as Southern Jade, is a variety of Xiuyan Jade. It has been processed into jade since the 1950s and entered its heyday in the 1970s. Xinyi Nanyu is listed as one of the four famous stones (jade, marble, Ying stone, and inkstone stone) in Guangdong.         Xinyi Nanyu is a serpentine jade, emerald green, crystal clear like ice, soft and smooth, with elegant stone patterns, and a variety of colors such as yellow-green, cyan, and black. It is mainly light green, with yellow, white, brown and other colors. It has a fine texture, greasy or waxy luster, and is translucent. It belongs to the same serpentine jade as Liaoning Xiuyu, but the color is often different from Xiuyu, with a dark green to brown-green tone. At the same time, the geological conditions of production are also different from Xiuyu. Xinyi jade has been discontinued, and now Luchuan, Guangxi has become an important production area of serpentine jade materials in the south.           PART 11   Jilin An Green Jade             Anluite is also a serpentine jade, named after the Lushui River in Ji'an County, Jilin Province, where it was first discovered. Anluite is also called Ji'an Xiuyu, and is produced at the foot of Yunv Peak in the west of Ji'an City, Tonghua City, Jilin Province. It is a metamorphic serpentine among silicate minerals and is a type of serpentine jade.         The stone has a fine texture, moist green color, and beautiful patterns. The color is generally bright apple green or dark green, slightly transparent to translucent, smooth and pure, jade-like in shape and color, and soft to the touch. It is a good stone for carving. It was named after the Green Water River under the Yunv Peak in Ji'an where it was first discovered.               PART 12   Xinjiang serpentine jade           Serpentine jade, known as "Kunlun Jade (serpentine and tremolite)", is produced in many places in Kunlun Mountains and Altun Mountains in Xinjiang. The ore bodies are located in the contact zone between dolomite marble and diorite intrusions. It has various colors, fine texture, and mostly waxy luster.         In addition, the ultrabasic rock alteration type serpentine jade produced in Tuoli County, Tacheng area in the northwest of Xinjiang is called Tuoli ophiure jade. Similar serpentine jade is also produced in Fuyun County in the north and Hongliugou in Ruoqiang County in the east. The jade is mainly dark green, dark green, yellow green and other colors, with black dots of chromite and magnetite, and has a fine texture.           PART 13   Huili Serpentine Jade           The serpentine jade produced in Huili County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province is called "Huili Jade" and is of ultrabasic hydrothermal alteration origin. The jade is mostly dark green, looks like jasper, and has a relatively fine texture. In recent years, serpentine jade with cat's eye effect has been newly discovered in the same place of origin as nephrite cat's eye in Shimian County. The serpentine cat's eye is composed of densely arranged parallel fibrous serpentine, with various colors and waxy or silky luster. It is of ultrabasic hydrothermal alteration origin.     Serpentine Jade Cat's Eye             PART 14   Yunnan Serpentine Jade             Serpentine jade is produced in many places in Yunnan, including Dongchuan, Wuding, Jingdong, Cangshan, Mojiang, etc. The serpentine jade in these places is collectively called "Yunnan Jade". The ore bodies include both magnesium-rich carbonate rock metamorphic type, such as Wuding and Dongchuan serpentine jade; and ultrabasic rock hydrothermal alteration type, such as Jingdong and Mojiang. The jade has various colors and fine jade. It often contains secondary mineral chlorite                 PART 15   Serpentine Jade from Other Regions             Lantian jade from Lantian, Shaanxi (some Lantian jade with a high proportion of serpentine is also serpentine jade), serpentine marble from Jiaocheng County, Shanxi, serpentine marble from Tieli, Heilongjiang, serpentine from Taowan, Luanchuan, Henan, serpentine marble from Damiao Village, Chengde, Hebei, serpentine from Tianchang, Anhui, serpentine jade from Xiaosigou, Hebei, etc.

  • China's Gemstone Resources (including Mineral Crystals) - Topaz (Yunnan)
China's Gemstone Resources (including Mineral Crystals) - Topaz (Yunnan)             01  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------       Topaz is a relatively common single crystal gemstone. Blue topaz is very common in the market. More precious varieties include imperial topaz. Topaz is also listed as the birthstone for November internationally.       In mineralogy, it is also called topaz. It is a complex of aluminum silicate, fluorine and hydroxide. The content ratio of F to OH is related to the mineralization conditions and directly affects the color, refractive index, density and other properties of topaz. It generally presents short columns and irregular particles. Today, let us learn about the topaz in Yunnan, my country.             PART 01   Distribution of Topaz in Yunnan           Yunnan's gem-grade topaz (topaz) is mainly distributed in Yuanyang, Fugong and Tengchong. According to relevant geological and mineral records, six mining sites have been discovered in the province, including a town in Tengchong, Baoshan City (gem types are topaz and beryl), three mining sites in Fugong, Nujiang Prefecture, and two mining sites in Honghe Prefecture.     Image source: Gemstones and mineral crystals from Yunnan           PART 2   Gemstone Origin and Origin           Gem-grade topaz is mainly produced in the pegmatite caves in the southern section of the Ailao Mountain metamorphic belt. It has the characteristics of many points, wide areas and good quality, and is often symbiotic with gem-grade aquamarine and crystal. Topaz is also produced in the pegmatite in the northern section of the Gaoligong Mountain metamorphic belt.     Other pegmatite distribution areas have less output. The deposits are mainly pegmatite type, and the topaz associated with very few greisen-type tin deposits reaches gem grade but the particles are small. The main associated topaz deposits are aquamarine deposits in Yuanyang County and red beryl deposits in Yuanyang.           PART 3   Some deposit characteristics         01         Somewhere in Yuanyang     The pegmatite in this mining site is generally 5-80m long and 1-20m thick, mostly symmetrically differentiated, and produces minerals such as crystal, aquamarine, topaz, beryl, fluorite, tourmaline, etc. in the crystal cave. Topaz is generally light yellow to colorless, transparent, glassy, hardness 8, rhombic prism, complex rhombic single cone, growth lines on the crystal surface, small crystal parasitic, crystal size is generally 0.5-5cm, the largest is 5.2cmx4.4cm.           02         Somewhere in Fugong County     The rock vein is exposed at 80m and 2-5m thick, with slight alteration. Topaz and crystal are found in the crystal caves of the pegmatite vein. Topaz is 1-3cm. 2-5cm long. It is colorless and transparent, with intact crystals.
